The Apollo / Victoria Music Hall was built in 1859 and was demolished in 1899. This is believed to have been another name for the earlier Theatre Royal on the corner of Union Street and Grovener Road, destroyed by fire during the run of "Mont Christo & Co" in 1898. It was not unusual for a Theatre to have different names when playing Variety instead of the usual Drama. i.e. The Grand Opera House and Empire York.
