If
you are in the Stoke Newington area I can highly recommend the Guided
Walks at Abney Park Cemetery. The tour I went on in August 2013 took
in the final resting places of Fred Albert, Walter Labernum, Herbert
Campbell, Nelly Power, Edmund Payne, Albert Chevalier, and George Leybourne
amongst others. There are thought to be around 40 famous theatrical
names buried there in all. We were shown round some of the beautifully
restored monuments and grave stones at this former private cemetery
by Neil Morkunas, whose lively and personable talk on the artistes we
encountered was a wonderfully evocative step back into the music hall
period.
Right - Details for the 2015 Music Hall guided walks at Abney Park Cemetery.
Guided Tours of the cemetery are by The Music Hall Guild of Great Britain and America in association with the Abney Park Trust.

Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery
Like so many other private cemeteries in Edinburgh, Newington was allowed to fall into disrepair until the city council was forced to step in and place a compulsory purchase order on it. In places the vegetation is so thick that it is impossible to walk and in the few areas that have been cleared it appears that some headstones have also been tidied away.
