Arthur Lloyd's 'I Like To Be A Swell'

Above - Arthur Lloyd's 'I Like To Be A Swell'

"I LIKE TO BE A SWELL." Many of our readers will recognise this as one of the most successful comic songs in the collection of that talented vocalist Mr. Arthur Lloyd. It is written and composed by Mr. Gaston Murray, and never fails to secure a vociferous encore. The refrain of the song is in the valse time, and the story of how he was victimised by a charming feminine has of course to be told by the very heavy "swell." A lithographic portrait of Mr. Lloyd in the character is forthcoming, and the song is published by the British and American Music Publishing Company (Limited), 14, Charles-street, Soho-square, W. - The ERA, 26 Nov 1865.
