The Renaissance Restaurant at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool - From a 1938 programme for the Winter Gardens Complex. The Renaissance Room and Galleon Bar are situated within the Winter Gardens Complex in Blackpool and were part of an upgrading of the complex in the early 1930s.

They opened in May 1931 along with the Spanish Hall, the Baronial Hall, and the Windsor Bar. The Floral Hall was also refurbished at the same time and had a lounge bar added.

Caption Reads: - 'The RENAISSANCE RESTAURANT as pictured by FORTUNINO MATANIA, R.I. This resplendent restaurant of the Winter Gardens is to Blackpool what the Savoy Grill is to London; along with the Baronial Hall, it is gay with diners and dancers nightly after the theatre, and is a perfect retreat for luncheon. A very modern cocktail bar adds to its popularity.'

The Galleon Bar at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool - From a 1938 programme for the Winter Gardens Complex. Today the Renaissance Room, as it is now called, is most often in use as a 'high class' restaurant and cocktail bar and is a popular haunt for people leaving the Winter Garden's Opera House and Empress Ballroom after an evening's entertainment. It has a capacity of 200 as a reception room, 150 as a banqueting hall, and 275 when used as a theatrical space.

The Galleon Bar, or Ye Galleon, as it was called when it was first opened in May 1931, along with the Renaissance Restaurant, is a wildly creative recreation of an old Galleon Ship from the Spanish Armada by Andrew Mazzei, complete with oak beams etc, and all actually done in cleverly creative plasterwork.

Caption Reads: - 'YE GALLEON Winter Gardens from the painting by FORTUNINO MATANIA, R.I. A magnificent replica of the Officers' Quarters on a Spanish Galleon of the Armada period provides a unique and original refreshment lounge with its rich old oak carving. One feels stirring, the spirit of youthful adventure with thoughts of pirates, buried treasure and the Spanish Main.
