About Gerry Atkins
Gerry Atkins was a dancer on the tour of 'Zip goes a Million' in 1954 and 'Can-Can' which he toured around Britain in 1955 and 1956. He was also principal dancer in 'These Foolish Kings' with the crazy gang at the Victoria Palace in 1957 and performed in 'Folies Bergere' at the Winter Garden Theatre, Drury Lane in 1958, and 'Blue Magic' at the Prince of Wales Theatre, Coventry Street with Shirley Bassey amongst others.
Gerry has very kindly sent in a lot of his personal Theatre Photographs for inclusion on the site which he took whilst on tour around the provinces and also whilst working in London's West End in the mid to late 1950s. The Photographs are a wonderful period record of some of Britain's best known Theatres at the very end of the Variety era.
